Ratepayers in Princes Street, Edinburgh achieved a major victory when the Lands Valuation Appeal Court refused appeals by the Lothian Assessor against earlier decisions of the Valuation Appeal Committees allowing the ratepayers a temporary allowance of 20% against their respective net annual values as a consequence of a material change of circumstances affecting value as a result of the disruption caused by the tramway construction works in Edinburgh.  The Court upheld the Committees' decisions in respect of appeals by some 37 different ratepayers, all of whom had retail premises fronting onto Princes Street, and all of whom had been allowed by the Committees, a temporary allowance of 20% against their net annual value. 

Anthony MacIver, Advocate, of Terra Firma Chambers was instructed to act for all the ratepayers in these successful appeals, before the Committees, and in the subsequent  Hearings before the Lands Valuation Appeal Court which upheld the decisions of the Committees.
