Terra Firma Chambers Recognised as a 'Very Strong Stable for Planning and Environmental Law' in Latest Edition of Legal 500

Terra Firma Chambers has been recognised in the latest edition of the Legal 500 for its strength in planning and environmental law, property, commercial, public and tax law.  In the new rankings, released yesterday, 25 members of Terra Firma received 38 individual recommendations while the clerking team also drew praise.

Terra Firma members received rankings across all of our core practice areas of Property, Planning, Commercial and Administrative Law.  Acknowledged for its ‘established strength in public and administrative law’ the stable is also praised for its ‘recognised expertise in the field of commercial arbitration, where advocates handle local and international cases as counsel and arbitrators’.

Described as ‘the leading planning chambers in Scotland’ and a ‘very strong stable for planning and environmental law’, eight members were recommended under planning, environmental and licensing with a further seven recommendations under property, construction and agriculture.  Terra Firma’s expertise in other key areas including insolvency, commercial litigation and tax was also acknowledged while ‘Roy Martin QC is widely recognised for his expertise in Scottish pensions litigation.’

In addition, there were further recommendations for our dual-qualified members in respect of their practices at the Bar of England & Wales, including an additional three for  ‘double silk’ James Findlay QC.

On the clerking side, practice manager Emma Potter is ‘always keen to assist’ and is ‘very knowledgeable about the advocates and their areas of practice’. Her ‘very friendly and approachable’ team is ‘extremely helpful and accommodating’.

Emma said: ‘I am delighted with the feedback from the Legal 500, which serves to illustrate the determination of the members of Terra Firma to provide expert advice and representation, alongside responsive and efficient clerking. This resolve was integral to our aim when we formed Terra Firma ten years ago and it continues to drive us forward today.’
