Biography:

 

Prior to calling to the bar, Luise Locke was a partner with Murray Beith Murray WS specialising in property law with a focus on commercial property, landlord and tenant, agricultural holdings, land obligations and variations, banking and rights in security, repossession, insolvency, land use/planning, and land related contracts and disputes. In addition to her considerable experience in property law and commercial leases, she also has a strong interest in Valuation and Rating.

Luise has appeared in the Court of Session, Sheriff Court, Lands Tribunal, Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal. She has acted as Junior Counsel for the pursuers in a number of personal injury litigations, notably McTear v Imperial Tobacco (2005) 2 SCI, the first litigation of its type in Europe to proceed to proof on the liability of tobacco manufacturers for lung cancer. She has appeared as Junior Counsel in various Inner House trust variations for private trusts and s. 425 Companies Acts re-arrangement schemes.

In addition, Luise has given talks to private organisations on rights in security, and commercial property litigation, and is the current annotator for the Scottish Planning Encyclopaedia of the Planning Act 1997.
