
Recommended in the latest edition of Legal 500 for commercial litigation, Roddy McIlvride recently appeared in the Supreme Court without a leader in a mortgage-related dispute (2011). He is also a standing junior to the Home Office.

Biography:
Since being called to the bar, Roddy McIlvride has been instructed in a wide range of commercial and commercial property matters. He had previously been head of litigation at a large Glasgow firm of solicitors, and between 1986 and 2004 he was also a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner. As a solicitor advocate between 1997 and 2004, Roddy appeared regularly in the Court of Session in both the Outer House and the Inner House.
In addition to appearing in the Supreme Court, the Court of Session and the Sheriff Court, he has represented clients before the Lands Tribunal for Scotland, employment tribunals, professional disciplinary tribunals and Licensing Committees, and in arbitrations, adjudications and planning inquiries. Roddy was admitted to temporary membership of the California Bar when representing corporate clients in litigation in the Federal Bankruptcy Court in San Francisco.
He is a former Convenor of the Law Society of Scotland solicitor advocate (civil) training and assessment course and has lectured at conferences organised by the Law Society of Scotland and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Roddy has also conducted training seminars for the staff of the Accountant in Bankruptcy.
