Wednesday 30th May 2012
Terra Firma’s Hairy Haggis relay runners successfully completed the Edinburgh Marathon last Sunday, raising over £2,500 for charity in the process.
As Edinburgh basked in glorious sunshine and blistering heat,
Philip Simpson set a scorching pace for team mates
Mark Mohammed,
Roddy Thomson QC and Andy Veitch. As the temperature rose, Terra Firma’s elite athletes kept their cool to finish a respectable 207th out of a field of 656, in a time of 3 hours 54 minutes - a new stable record!
Team Terra Firma has surpassed their fundraising target with over £2,500 already raised in support of the Andrew Grene Foundation. Donations can still be made by visiting Terra Firma’s
Justgiving page or by texting 'terr50' to 70070 and choosing an amount between £1 and £10. The relay team will start chasing payment of all pledges just as soon as they can walk again…
Terra Firma wish to thank everyone for giving so generously in support of the Andrew Grene Foundation.
Roddy Thomson QC hosted a drinks reception for AGF marathon participants after the event. It was attended by Tim Perutz, one of the co-founders of the charity. Tim outlined how the money raised will be used to benefit a number of excellent projects in the ongoing redevelopment of Haiti and expressed his profound gratitude on behalf of the AGF for everyone’s efforts.
Andrew Grene was a UN worker who spent his life helping others. He died in the Haitian earthquake. For further information about the AGF and their work, please visit the
